DAY 3: idea development for mini-project
Hi olfactory students,
Based on the scratch mini-projct ideas that we've discussed yesterday, we'll [extract] the smells, with either alcohol (vodka) or oil on next week Monday, and perhaps also on Tuesday.
You are supposed to prepare whatever smelly materials based on your ideas for the mini-project.
You can buy empty bottles from me for 1 euro each. The same transparent ones as those cheese burgers and newspaper smells.
The rest, the lab supplies that I'll prepare, is covered by the interfaculty.
Also please bring the accompanying tools for cracking / pulverizing / cutting / chopping / sewing your materials. I'll prepare 1 mortar, some scissors, and some knives.
Thank you for posting the assignment (1) - we'll go through it somewhere next week.
Perhaps we see each other at Paradiso this afternoon?
Have a nice weekend!
Maki

Goal of This Course
- (have to) smell a lot
- learn about smell and olfaction
- find another (hidden) dimension in the world
- become aware of smell and that leads to a joyful, healthy, and long life (!)
Most of the people only see the practical side of smell. Smell is like an additives that gives a good side-effect: it functions to make you feel relaxed or happy.
What we want to achieve in this course is a bit deeper than this.
Smell has a great potential as a medium. Let's use this course as a place to experiment. We'll focus on the theme smell and communication. You'll receive an final assignment (mini-project) under the theme of "olfactory game".
